Advanced, autonomous airbag system with AI-controlled crash detection. Provides maximum protection without external sensors.
The Alpinestars Stella Tech-Air® 3 V2 Airbag System is a fully autonomous, active airbag system designed to provide advanced protection for female motorcyclists. Whether worn over or under a motorcycle jacket, it offers reliable safety for V-Twin riders, touring enthusiasts, urban commuters, and weekend warriors. Unlike traditional airbag systems, the Tech-Air® 3 does not require any external connections or sensors on the motorcycle, allowing it to operate independently for seamless protection.
Equipped with six integrated sensors, including three accelerometers (one triaxial) and three gyroscopes (one triaxial), the Tech-Air® 3 V3 delivers top-tier crash monitoring in various riding conditions, even when stopped. The system’s AI-driven crash detection algorithm continuously analyzes riding dynamics and deploys the airbag in milliseconds when a crash is detected, reducing up to 95% of impact energy across the chest and back. In the event of a direct impact with another vehicle or obstacle, the airbag system activates before impact, ensuring the rider is protected at the most critical moment. Activation is automatic via the magnetic zip closure, simplifying engagement before every ride.
The “first impact” test was performed in accordance with Dolomiticert Protocol where the airbag was tested within a speed range of 25 to 63 km/h. For more information on the envelope of protection, see the Tech-Air® 3 V2 User Manual. Featuring a water resistant main chassis and a waterproof ECU and electronics, the slim, self-contained system can also be worn under a motorcycle jacket, including an Alpinestars’ Tech-Air® Ready jacket, or any leather or textile jacket, providing that the jacket has sufficient space to accommodate the inflation of the airbag. Tech-Air® 3 v2 will allow riders to enjoy the daily commute even more, knowing they’re protected.
An LED display, discreetly positioned inside the left chest pocket, shows the airbag’s operational status. The pocket’s reflective inner backing enhances LED visibility, and the system provides haptic feedback through vibrations to confirm activation and alert the rider when the battery is running low. The vest also includes an integrated back protector pocket for additional passive protection. The Alpinestars Pro Second Generation compact Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is securely housed in the upper back pocket of the vest.
The Tech-Air® 3 System is now user serviceable, providing riders with the option of being able to replace the gas inflator canisters themselves should the Airbag ever deploy. he Airbag is certified for up to 6 deployments, providing its integrity hasn’t been compromised during a deployment or crash situation, and before needing to send or bring it to an Authorized Tech-Air® Service Center for the replacement of the Airbag Bladder.
