The Alpinestars Tech-Air® 3 Leather Airbag System is a fully autonomous, active airbag system designed to provide advanced protection for motorcyclists. Crafted from premium softened leather, this system offers a sleek and durable design. It is specifically designed to be worn over a jacket but can be worn over or under a motorcycle jacket, ensuring versatile protection without the need for external connections or sensors.
Equipped with six integrated sensors—three accelerometers (including one triaxial) and three gyroscopes (including one triaxial)—the Tech-Air® 3 Leather System delivers top-tier crash monitoring across various riding conditions, even when stationary. Its AI-driven crash detection algorithm continuously analyzes riding dynamics and deploys the airbag in milliseconds upon detecting a crash, reducing up to 95% of impact energy to the chest and back. In direct collisions with another vehicle or obstacle, the system activates before impact, ensuring critical protection. Activation is automatic via the magnetic zip closure, simplifying engagement before each ride.
The vest's design includes elasticated side panels for a flexible fit and expansion during airbag inflation. Multiple storage options are provided, such as two zippered hand pockets, two zippered chest pockets, and an inner pocket for added convenience. A built-in sunglasses pocket on the right chest and a waist loop allow riders to store essentials like riding gloves.
An LED display, discreetly positioned inside the left chest pocket, indicates the airbag's operational status. The pocket's reflective inner backing enhances LED visibility, and the system provides haptic feedback through vibrations to confirm activation and alert the rider when the battery is low. An integrated back protector pocket allows for additional passive protection. The Alpinestars Pro Second Generation compact Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is securely housed in the upper back pocket of the vest.
Powered by an integrated, certified lithium-ion battery, the Tech-Air® 3 Leather System offers 40 hours of active ride time on a full charge. A full recharge takes approximately four hours, while a one-hour charge provides eight to ten hours of riding time. The gas inflator, responsible for deploying the airbag, is located in the inflator housing on the left side of the lower back. Bluetooth Low Energy 5.0 (BLE 5.0) connectivity allows riders to connect to the Tech-Air® App, where they can monitor system and battery status, track rides via MyRide, and access software updates to keep the system current.
